Entrusted with a duty of memory, Riko Debs has embarked on a gigantic mission to enhance the regional musical heritage represented by the late Henri Debs père: the restoration, digitization, and remastering of the historical production catalog that starts in the late 1950s and currently represents nearly 6000 titles…

This colossal project is part of the same approach and continues the documentary “Studio Debs” co-produced in 2020 and released in 2022, screened at various film festivals (Black Diversity, Canada; Windrush, UK; Afro Latino, USA…), music festivals (Terre de Blues, Les Suds à Arles), awarded 3 times to date (Best Caribbean Documentary & Best Sound Design in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico and Caribbean Spirit at Caribbean Tales in Toronto, Canada), and generating a growing demand for listening. “Studio Debs” will be screened in its extended version on January 8, 2025, at the Cabane du Monde (Rocher de Palmer)

With 2 releases per month (one 45RPM and one 33RPM) each accompanied by a video animation around the vinyl cover, different audiences will discover or rediscover the gems of Caribbean music in chronological order. Debs Music Studio invites you on a journey into the past.

DEBS MUSIC STUDIO from father to son …

Founded in 1984, at 27 rue Frébault in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe by Mr. Henri DEBS, the recording studio was then named “La Terreur” and enjoyed a prestigious reputation. A plethora of artists from across the Caribbean, of various musical styles, passed through and recorded numerous hits there. Following the founder's death in 2013, his son, Riko DEBS, who has been involved in the music industry for several years with his label “Riko Rekords,” decided to renovate the premises, infusing them with a more modern dynamic while preserving the soul of this family heritage.

In 2024, forty years later, Debs Music Studio offers its clients professional recording conditions, making it THE reference studio.
