RAS XTR3ME
by Mike Ponin
RAS XTR3ME
aka Dwayne Nelson
“ The name Xtr3me was a name I choose to use from high school because it complimented my personality towards music, when I started growing my locks I added Ras to signify the growth and the level of consciousness”
We are very excited to share with you our first artist interview!
Especially since it’s Ras Xtr3me, blooming, who is doing the honour of exchanging a few words with us.

Vintage 21
Ras Xtr3me is a 22 year-old singer full of soul, living in Old Harbour, St. Catherine, Jamaica. Although already enjoying collaborations with well-known studios such as Audiotraxx, Counsel, Konscript & 10 Star Records, he remains humble.
Injustice and dishonesty are what frustrates him most.
He seamlessly finds his balance between music and nature through writing, singing, playing drums and studio engineering, but also planting, farming and cooking organic food!
His adeptness and his desire to excel in the studio is undoubtedly closely linked to his understanding and appreciation of nature
“I’ve always strive to do music about reality even before my mind was open to the serious issue we face in the world, the more socially conscious I got the more socially conscious my music gets also Farming and chanting and living natural adds to the drive and allow me to do it without fear or doubt”

Shaat Locks
My message in Shaat Locks as in most of my other materials is for everyone to live a more natural life style without all the additives and constant changes and abuse to the body, back to roots and culture.
So of the problems that we as the youth face is lack of information and lack of supply that’s one of our main issue right now and some of us don’t know how to cope under pressure
In the image of british iron clock towers like the one that sits in St Catherine, Ras Xtr3me respects history while being in tune with today’s world
Influences
He likes to look to the past to understand the present and to better anticipate future challenges. It is with great pride that he admits how his family is so important in this synergy.
“My mom Juandylan Scott and Foster brother Ras Kemar are my two biggest influences outside of music today”
“Some of my musically influences of today and yesterday are Nina Simone, Marley, Peter Tosh, Dennis Brown, Mutabaruka, Third World band, Flick Wilson, Sizzla, Dezarie, Jah 9, Protoge, Chronixx, to name a few”
Moreover, we find this quest for elevation through his musical influences is the perfect example of a positive and conscious movement. Not to be confused with “mushy” music, because like his references, RAS XTR3ME does not mince his words and his messages conveyed.

“I know better so I do better. Ras Xtr3me is all about positive Vibes and conscious uplifting, I’m a person that seek the true and the right I believe in finding the solution instead of dwelling on the problem, I am what I am and I strive to be the best me I can be”
News
News from Ras Xtr3me is that he has just made a Mixtape for Vibe Sound Explosion of Cologne in Germany.
And the artist revealed to us that an official website and video clips are in the pipeline and should soon emerge. This should delight his growing fan community!
“ I have many styles so I would say yes I think I’ve found some styles and ways to use my vocals but I’m young and learning so the room for growth is eminent “
Overall our interview resembled the playlist of an artist who demonstrates that his work is true to his personality: rich, conscious and above all humble.
“ I’m a very humble person I try not to get over excited by my achievements but I’m very thrilled to be featured on Kribbean and it’s a great achievement to have my tracks and bio spotlighted”
It’s a good feeling over all thanks to Kribbean for the experience.
Thanks & all blessings

More than a place .. a way of living!
