Fortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic seems to be behind us, and things are unlocking for the media and culture sector. This positive evolution has been immediately felt by the afro-Caribbean music collective KIZZME. The group recently released its third single titled “Only With You,” sung by the popular Curaçaoan singer Qshans. Only With You” is a sensual blend of konpa, zouk, and a Curaçaoan fusion called “ritmo kombina”, with an interesting international flavor. The song was written by Qshans, M. Ray Bass and AJ GRAND, the latter also being the composer and producer of the song.

“Only With You” was created by AJ GRAND during the pandemic. Particularly during these difficult times, he felt the need to make a song about forgiveness (in relationships), as life can have twists and turns. The demo was sent to M. Ray Bass, who immediately understood the concept and added beautiful and powerful lyrics to the chorus. Subsequently, Qshans was contacted, and after hearing the concept, he went straight to the studio and, in half an hour, wrote the rest of the lyrics.

Qshans, former singer of the group “Cache Deluxe,” experienced the collaboration with KIZZME as a “breath of fresh air” on the music scene of the Dutch Caribbean. Qshans is currently working hard on his solo career and has recently released various singles such as “Basila Riba Mi” with Kevv, “No Tratami Asina” with Stanley Clementina, and “Mas Mi Draai” with Ivanhoe Willems.

The song “Only With You” has been well received so far. In just a few days, it reached 40,000 views on YouTube. It was even covered by the talented Ghanaian TikTok influencer kaos_conny who translated part of the song from Papiamentu to English for her followers. To top it off, Qshans was invited to the Miss Universe Curaçao 2022 competition to perform “Only With You” live for the first time (Only With You Live at Miss Curacao 2022). The song has also received positive reactions from Konpa lovers around the world.

ALL ABOUT KIZZME

KIZZME was founded in 2017 by Curaçaoan singer, bassist, and producer Riëndy Holder, artistically known as Mr. Ray Bass. His vision was to develop a new live sound (urban and modern) by working with musicians from several cultures such as Suriname, Cape Verde, France, and Haiti. AJ GRAND and Orville “OMD” Mac Donald quickly joined the team to help realize this vision and manage the group. Other well-known artists within the collective include Marise Barbosa (singer), Nilson Silva (singer), Jefferson Da Veiga (singer), and Kevin Leito (percussionist).

KIZZME aims to provide a unique musical experience to afro-Caribbean music lovers through high-quality productions and live performances. KIZZME also wants to promote unity and cultural diversity. After performing on several major stages in the Netherlands, such as Latin Dance Night Groningen, Beijo (Paradiso), Dias Latinos, and the Kwaku Summer Festival, they are ready to take the next steps in their musical journey.

Many exciting new tracks are coming in 2022, in several genres such as Kizomba, Zouk, and Konpa. Thanks to the Fonds Podiumkunsten, KIZZME has also been able to launch the “Lou-vre Sessions,” in which they will release several performance videos, including performances from their first two albums “Solve It” and “I Don’t Wanna.” Additionally, KIZZME wants to go on a musical tour in Africa and the Caribbean and collaborate with artists from various genres.
