Arly Larivière Brings Konpa En Symphony to Place Bell in Laval
Forty Musicians Unite to Bring the Power of Konpa Alive in a Spectacular Symphonic Format

Montréal, August 20, 2026 — Following standout performances at Boston's Symphony Hall (November 16, 2025) and New York's Theater at Madison Square Garden (February 14, 2026), Arly Larivière continues the international journey of Konpa en Symphony. The Haitian artist and leader of the group Nu Look will present this grand show for the first time in Quebec on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 8 PM, at Place Bell in Laval.
Conceived, created, and artistically directed by Arly Larivière, Konpa en Symphony brings together an impressive ensemble of 40 musicians — the core musical group of Nu Look along with several instrumentalists from Montreal — for an exceptional meeting of the rhythmic power of konpa and the richness of a symphonic orchestra. The show retains all the essence of konpa: its danceable rhythms, romantic melodies, and iconic songs, elevated into an orchestral and deeply moving dimension.

This stop in Quebec comes at a particularly significant time. In 2025, Haiti's Compas was inscribed on UNESCO's representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity — a historic recognition for a music genre over 70 years old, created in the 1950s by Nemours Jean-Baptiste. Quebec is also home to one of the largest Haitian communities outside of Haiti.
Known for his poetic songwriting, emotionally charged performances, and remarkable sense of melody, Arly Larivière is one of the most influential figures in contemporary konpa. Leading Nu Look for over two decades, he has graced the stages of Zénith Paris – La Villette, Olympia in Paris, Barclays Center in New York, and Symphony Hall in Boston.

Elegant and sophisticated attire is suggested to enhance the atmosphere of this exceptional evening.
